COMPREHENSIVE TREE CARE

We Offer More Than Just Tree Removal in Burnsville!

A well-managed tree canopy can bolster your residential property value by up to 15% while acting as a natural windbreak against bitter winter gusts. Because large portions of Burnsville feature older, well-established neighborhoods, many of our trees are reaching structural maturity and require proactive maintenance rather than immediate removal. Rather than jumping straight to clear-cutting a classic tree, our specialists focus on structural safety assessments, micro-injection treatments, and strategic preservation techniques to keep your landscape thriving safely.

Tree Pruning

Regular pruning helps maintain the health and structural integrity of your trees.

EAB Diagnostics & Treatment

Eco-conscious trunk injections formulated to save healthy, high-value Green and White Ash trees across Dakota County.

Insect and Pest Control

Proactively managing insect infestations protects your trees from damage.

Soil and Root Care

Maintaining healthy soil is essential for the overall stability of your trees.

Rigid compliance with regional safe non-pruning seasons to safeguard our local Red and Bur Oak populations.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Yes. NWI Tree Service is fully licensed and carries comprehensive liability and workers’ compensation insurance to protect you and your Burnsville property. We are happy to provide proof of insurance upon request, eliminating any financial risk to you.

Absolutely. We provide free, no-obligation onsite consultations for all Burnsville residents with a transparent, upfront price. You will know exactly what the entire lifecycle—from removal to cleanup—will cost before you schedule service with us.

No. We use ground protection mats and specialized low-impact equipment designed for residential and sensitive shoreline yards to ensure your Burnsville landscape is protected. Our “Immaculate Cleanup” promise means we restore your yard to a condition cleaner than we found it, removing all debris and wood waste responsibly.

For standard residential properties, a city permit is generally not required to remove dead, dying, or hazardous trees located entirely on private land. However, Burnsville enforces strict ordinances regarding tree preservation and replacement for properties undergoing development, grading, or significant remodeling. Additionally, properties located within designated Shoreland Overlay Districts (such as homes directly adjacent to Crystal Lake) may face restrictions on removing live vegetation. NWI can help verify your specific zoning requirements before work begins.

To prevent the devastating and rapid spread of Oak Wilt fungus, oak trees should strictly be pruned during their dormant season—typically from October through March. Pruning oaks between April and July is highly dangerous, as the sap-feeding beetles that carry the fungal spores are incredibly active and drawn directly to fresh pruning cuts. If storm damage causes an emergency hazard during the restricted spring or summer months, the wound must be sealed immediately with specialized tree paint to protect the tree.

Emerald Ash Borer (EAB) is highly active throughout Dakota County. Early warning signs of an infestation include canopy dieback starting at the top of the tree, distinct D-shaped exit holes in the bark (roughly 1/8 inch wide), S-shaped larval galleries underneath splitting bark, and heavy “blonde” patches caused by woodpeckers flecking away the outer bark to feed on larvae. If your ash tree exhibits these signs but still retains more than 70% of its canopy, NWI can apply targeted trunk-injection treatments to save it.
