Watering Instructions
Keep the top 12 inches of soil in and around the root ball moist. This can be determined by either using a moisture gauge inserted 6 inches into the ground just outside of the drip canopy, or by digging 4-6 inches into the soil where the soil should be moist to the touch, not dry or drenched.
Trees planted within an irrigated lawn area should not require further watering. Overwatering is just as harmful as underwatering.
Additional water should not be applied to trees if soil is already wet or moist to the touch.
If watering by hand place a hose at the base of the plant and turn the water down to a trickle. Leave it on each plant for 10 – 15 minutes (depending on the type of soil you have). This allows the water to fully saturate the plant’s roots. It’s best if the hose is moved periodically in a triangular shape around the tree.
If overhead watering, leave it on 20-30 minutes (depending on the type of soil you have).
Warranty Information
Owner of the property where tree is planted must comply with all watering and after care instructions provided by the Company.
Install/use Corrugated Tree Guard for the winter season to maintain warranty and minimize rodent/winter damage.
Maintain the mulch ring or other turf limiting coverage around tree trunk.
Avoid or limit use of broadleaf weed killer near your trees.
Limit self-pruning your tree of dead or broken branches and allow for a trained arborist to manage your tree. (May affect warranty.)
If tree settles out of a straight growth habit, contact NWI for staking.
