Heavy Ash Removal & Property Pruning on Grenadier Avenue North, Oakdale, MN
Multi-Unit Ash Clearing, Oak Wound Sealing, Complete Site Restoration
Oakdale’s got that comfortable, established suburban feel where mature shade trees wind right through quiet residential neighborhoods and multi-unit communities. When we pulled up to Pat’s property on Grenadier Avenue North in Oakdale, it didn’t take long to see we had a big project on our hands. The grounds had a wonderful, established canopy, but years of ash decline had taken a heavy toll on the trees framing the buildings, driveways, and shared green spaces.
The core challenge on this lot was taking down 17 declining Green Ash (Fraxinus pennsylvanica) trees scattered right across the property near several residential structures. In addition to the ash trees, we had a dying Spruce (Picea glauca) and a small crowding Maple (Acer spp.) that needed to come down before they posed hazards to the nearby roofs. Over by one of the units, a mature Oak (Quercus spp.) was growing way too tight to the structure, requiring a careful clearance prune to gain 6 to 8 feet off the siding. Because we were working around sensitive oak tissue, our guys made sure to apply tree wound sealant to every cut to protect against oak wilt. Balancing extensive tree removal with custom pruning kept our entire crew moving deliberately from tree to tree.
To maneuver between tight building corners and over shared lawns without leaving a mess, our crew brought out our SD 64 man lift. Equipped with wide, low-impact turf tires, the lift let us reach high into the ash tops without leaving deep ruts in the grass. Overhead access allowed our operators to limb each trunk from the top down, dropping sections into controlled target zones on the ground. Right behind the saws, our tracked skid steer with a grapple bucket gathered heavy wood instantly, keeping pathways and turf clear of heavy brush.
Once all 19 removal targets were cut flush to the ground, we ground down the large stumps, filled the holes with fresh topsoil, and scattered grass seed over the disturbed spots. Our heavy-duty grapple truck hauled away five full loads of timber, branches, and debris before we finished up by blowing down all the sidewalks and driveways. Leaving the entire complex looking wide open, safe, and fully restored for Pat and the whole neighborhood was an incredibly rewarding finish.
