Crane-Assisted Tree Removal on Gerald Street, Osceola, WI

Heavy Crane Picks, High-Risk Structure Clearance, Complete Yard Restoration

Gerald Street sits right in the heart of Osceola, where mature, tall-canopy hardwoods wrap around quiet residential yards. When we pulled up to Debbie and Jimmy’s property, we were looking at a typical St. Croix County setup—big, beautiful trees that had simply outgrown their tight backyard space. Having towering timber right up against a home’s foundation or hovering over a roofline makes for a great shade canopy, but when those trees start showing decline or overcrowding the structure, getting them down safely takes a real plan.

This job involved three heavy target trees tucked deep into the back lot: a large central Maple, a declining Ash, and a massive Oak positioned right off the back left corner of the house. Working so close to the roofline and surrounding property meant traditional notch-and-drop cutting was completely off the table. To protect the house and outbuildings, Tanner and our crew planned a precise sequence of picks, utilizing specialized tree paint on necessary cuts to keep seasonal rot and pests out while performing this technical tree removal work.

To handle the heavy timber without dragging massive trunks across the lawn, we brought out our heavy-duty 60-ton crane alongside our Nifty Lift SD 64. Staged strategically in the driveway, the crane reached way over the house, locking onto giant limbs while Tanner and the climbers made clean, calculated cuts. Each section was lifted straight up and over the roof, floating timber down into the driveway drop zone without putting an ounce of weight on the backyard turf. On the ground, our tracked skid steer on wide rubber tracks gathered the pieces instantly, preventing deep ruts in the grass.

Once all three trees were stripped and safely on the pavement, we brought in our main grapple truck to haul away every massive log, heavy branch, and pile of brush. The crew spent plenty of time raking through the lawn, blowing off the driveway, and making sure the entire yard was left cleaner than we found it. Debbie and Jimmy can finally enjoy their backyard again without worrying about every spring thunderstorm blowing through the valley.
