Multi-Tree Removal on Swede Lake Drive, Osceola, WI
Hillside Spruce Removals, Turf-Friendly Rigging, Complete Debris Haul
Swede Lake Drive in Osceola is one of those spots that really showcases the beauty of the St. Croix Valley, with steep rolling hills and mature woods wrapping right around the water. We headed out to Erik’s property to tackle a heavy cluster of overgrown evergreens taking over the backyard slope. Living on a elevation right off the lake means you’ve got to respect the grade, and keeping declining trees from crowding out the yard or risking a downhill fall in high winds is a huge priority.
The project called for taking down eight large White Spruce (Picea glauca) trees tucked along a tricky slope behind the house. Two of the eight weren’t originally marked on site, but Tanner walked the ground and reviewed the job layout video to confirm exact targets before we fired up a single saw. Working on a steep pitch means there’s zero room for error with falling timber, especially with sensitive lawn below and neighboring structures nearby. Staged safely at the top of the hill, our crew set up a clear drop strategy to dismantle each trunk without damaging the terrain during this extensive tree removal work.
To maneuver safely around the grade without tearing up the grass, Tanner and the guys brought out our Nifty Lift SD 64. Its wide turf tires spread out the machine’s weight so we didn’t slice up the lawn or leave deep ruts on the slope. Overhead access let us piecemeal the tops out of the tightest trees cleanly, while our tracked skid steer with a grapple bucket grabbed the heavy logs as they came down. Taking the extra time to work carefully on a hillside keeps the ground stable and protects the rest of the landscape.
Once all eight spruces were down to stump cuts flush to the grade, we brought in our heavy-duty grapple truck to load up every last log, heavy limb, and pile of pine brush. The crew raked down the slope, blew off the driveway, and left the backyard wide open to the sunshine. Erik’s got his lake view back and total peace of mind for the next storm season.
