Description
More Heat Tolerant Version of River Birch with Larger Leaves and White Peeling Bark
Heritage River Birch is a vigorous, fast-growing, medium-sized tree. As a single trunk tree, it develops a pyramidal habit when young, but matures to a more rounded shape. Heritage River Birch is drought sensitive and does not like hot, dry summers. Heritage has larger, glossy, dark green leaves with nearly white interior peeling bark, this cultivar is more heat tolerant. Perfect for moist soils and lower-lying areas across our local service zones, the Heritage River Birch features striking, salmon-cream peeling bark that provides beautiful multi-season visual interest. This native variety is highly resistant to the bronze birch borer, a pest common in our region. Whether planted as a multi-stem feature or a single trunk, it functions as an excellent natural screen for local properties looking for rapid canopy growth.
