Step 1: Measure the Widest Diameter (Root Flares)
Don’t just measure the flat top of the stump. To ensure we grind the entire mass, measure the widest point at ground level where the trunk meets the dirt (the root flares).
Pro Tip: If the roots are spreading significantly, include those in your measurement to avoid surprise costs.
Step 2: Measure Maximum Height
Measure from the ground to the highest point of the stump. This helps our crew determine the volume of mulch the job will produce.
Step 3: Check Equipment Access
Our grinding machinery needs a clear path to the work zone so we need to know how wide the access point for us to get to the stump.
Gate Width: Please measure the narrowest point (e.g., a backyard gate). Most of our units require at least 36 inches of clearance.
Obstacles: Note any steep slopes or underground utilities near the site.
